Join Farmer Matt for a 3-night intensive class on herbal preparations. This class is a hands-on experience that will guide you through several methods of preserving herbs.
The intensive will span three weeks and cover principals of herbal preparation focusing on the different extractions methods:
Tea / Iced Tea
You will have the opportunity to have tea time with a herbalist and herb farmer, Matt Mayernik. You will go through the process of sourcing, creating and enjoying herbal tea. Not only will you be enjoying a variety of teas but you’ll be learning about the medicinal properties of these herbs.
You will learn about different methods of preparing, from steeping to decoctions.
You will learn what a tincture is and how you can use them in your daily life. You will also make a custom tincture that you will take home.
You will learn how to extract fat soluble properties from the plants using oils. Infused oils could be medicinal or culinary based.
You will learn how to create a salve from an infused oil and learn the step by step process, so you too can make them at home.
You will learn what a hydrosol is and the process of creating a hydrosol. You will also learn how to incorporate hydrosols into your lifestyle.
You will gain the knowledge on how to preserve your culinary and medicinal herbs in an infused vinegar. In just a few simple steps, you can create an array of herbal vinegar's. Not only will you learn how to create them, but you will get an in depth herbal vinegar tasting!
