Ironically enough, most people practice yoga to keep themselves healthy – inside and out.  However, when we insert the modern fad of germophobia, I must ask, is your yoga practice really keeping you as healthy as you intend?  I don’t know what made me think of all those microscopic germs floating around my yoga mat, but I do know we had to think of something to help the situation!  I’m a big fan of getting dirty, don’t get me wrong.  But, there is a time and a place for all different kinds of fun.

We decided to combine two specific characteristics in order to make our Yoga Mat spray a success.  We knew it needed to be a disinfectant, but we also wanted it to be soothing because…well…it is yoga, and all.  The key ingredients we decided to include are tea tree oil and lavender.  If you’ve followed us at all, you know we grow (and therefore, use) a ton of lavender.  We love it for its known relaxing scent, healing abilities, calming effects, and so much more.   There’s really nothing more perfect to use just before an intense yoga session than a quick spritz of lavender.

The tea tree oil also offers a wealth of benefits.  Not to be confused with the ever-popular tea leaves, tea tree oil is produced from shrub-like trees often found in wet, swampy areas.  It’s been widely studied and proven to be an awesome antiseptic and antifungal agent.  Uses for tea tree oil range from helping clear out mucus-y sore throats to cleaning minor cuts to creating your own hand-sanitizer.  Since it works so well in cleaning out all of those other ailments, we figured it would work wonders on cleaning out your yoga mats.

Before you begin your next yoga session, give your mat a quick spritz of our yoga mat spray.  You’ll feel relaxed, refreshed, and ready to go, and you won’t have to worry about too many germs sharing your yoga space with you!
