So, I’m not going to lie to you, with as much as I love summer, I am definitely not the tanning goddess that I used to be. Shocking, right?  Though I love me some vitamin D as much as the next gal, somewhere along the line, I lost my passion for simply sitting in a lounge chair soaking up the rays.  While I still spend a ton of time outdoors, I do try to be significantly more careful about what I wear and how I protect my skin from some of the more harmful sun rays.  Despite my efforts, though, I still suffer a small blunder every now and then (who doesn’t, right?).  It is these rare “Oops!  I got too much sun” moments that inspired our After Sun Spray found in July’s Apothecary Box.

There really is nothing better than cooling off after a hot day outside.  Though rubbing some soothing aloe is always a nice coolant (even nicer when you store it in the fridge!), sometimes a spray is just faster and easier than a lotion or gel.  Our after sun spray offers the soothing coolant of the aloe along with the ease and convenience of a quick spritz.  My favorite ingredient in the spray is the rose hip water – a classic staple in skin care for centuries.  Rose hips have been used to treat many skin irritations, to keep your skin looking young and smooth, and to even out your skin tone.  Any ingredient that’s been around for thousands of years surely must be worth keeping.

In addition to the rose hip water, we also included some aloe and witch hazel for coolant purposes and some peppermint and lavender essential oils for a nice soothing, relaxing scent.  I am loving this spray so much that I use it even when I don’t think my skin needs some extra loving.  It has become my go-to soothing spritz whenever my nose needs a pick-me-up as well. Hope you enjoy it, and as always, happy healing!
