John Schweininger is a 1st generation mushroom farmer who founded New Jersey Mushrooms in 2017.
Harkening back to fond childhood memories of helping his father & grandfather tend the family vegetable garden, John has always appreciated & felt a strong connection to his family & their food…The meals that brought them together & nourished both mind and body.
He’s enjoyed a love of gardening his entire life. As a child, John was fascinated with the process of growing something…Anything…Seemingly from nothing. Filling old egg cartons with dirt, planting a seed into each of the twelve compartments, placing it on a sunny window sill & watering until…Viola! Magically, the soil would begin to lift & a tiny sprout would burst into the world…Brite, vibrant green & full of life. Yes…He was hooked on horticulture at an early age. And, yes…This had a profound affect on him & helped forge his connection to fresh, high quality produce that ultimately led him to don a pair of overalls & establish New Jersey Mushrooms…A farm whose pride is predicated on providing the finest, freshest specialty mushrooms possible.
